The dynamos produce
by Michel Faraday and Joseph Henry in 1830 where little more than

It was Belgium industrialist and electrical engineer
Zeno theophile gramme (1826-1901), who developed in 1869 the first high
voltage smooth direct current generator.
Gramme was the first to fulfill the dream of plentiful, cheaply produced
electricity. In 1871 Gramme and the French engineer hipolyte fountain
entered manufacturing partnership.
In 1873 the pair discovered that they
dynamo machines was reversible and could thus be converted in to an electrical
motor.
Their 1873 exhibit at the Vienna exsoposition convinced the the old
of the ease of generating electricity and conversely that electricity could be
reliable utilize to do heavy work.
By 1880 Sebastian ziani de Ferranti had patented
with the help of William Thomson
(Later lord Calvin.)
The London electric supply corporation commissioned Ferranti to design the
world’s first modern power station

He designed the
